NB Power’s New Home Energy Savings Program

If you're planning to build a new home in New Brunswick, there's a valuable opportunity you should know about. NB Power’s New Home Energy Savings Program offers homeowners up to $15,000 in incentives for building homes that meet specific energy efficiency standards. For anyone thinking long-term about savings, sustainability, and comfort, this program is worth exploring.

At Carriage Homes NB, we focus on building energy-efficient homes with modern layouts, smart design, and lasting value. While we don’t facilitate enrollment in this incentive program, we encourage homeowners to take advantage of the resources available through SaveEnergyNB.ca.

What is the Program?

The New Home Energy Savings Program rewards homeowners for building homes that go above and beyond typical energy efficiency standards. Depending on how efficient your new home is, you could qualify for tiered incentives, starting at $3,000 and climbing up to $15,000.

How It Works:

Here’s a general overview of the steps involved:

  1. Register Before You Build You must apply before getting your building permit. The earlier you register, the better.

  2. Work With a Certified Energy Advisor An energy advisor will review your house plans, suggest improvements, and provide an energy model of your home. This includes a $99 + HST program fee.

  3. Implement Recommended Upgrades You’ll receive upgrade paths to boost your home’s energy performance. Choose what works for your budget and goals.

  4. Complete Construction Build your home according to the approved plan. Keep receipts and product labels from energy-efficient products.

  5. Final Inspection & Rebate After construction, an energy advisor will inspect your home and determine your eligible incentive amount.

Why It Matters:

Energy-efficient homes aren't just better for the environment—they’re also more comfortable, less expensive to operate, and more valuable in the long run. For homeowners looking to reduce their carbon footprint while maximizing their investment, this program is a smart move.
